In this session, three farmers will delve into the nuances of livestock production, discussing grassfed grazing, animal health, quality and nutrition of product, husbandry, financial return and quality of life for the farmer. Ridge Shinn runs a grassfed beef production in Massachussetts, co-founded Hardwick Beef, and develops markets and distribution systems for 100% grass-fed beef throughout the northeast. Erica Frenay owns and operates Shelterbelt Farm, an integrated livestock and perennials farm near Ithaca, NY and is the livestock specialist for the Cornell Small Farms Program. Kelly Mulville manages Paicines Ranch in California and runs an agricultural design service.
