Founder and executive director of food access organization Growing Hope since 2003, Amanda Edmonds has also served as Mayor of the City of Ypsilanti, Michigan since 2014.  Having worked to advocate for sustainable food system policies at local, regional, and state levels, and now with her combined experience as a local policy-maker, she understands policy development from multiple perspectives.  As an advocate for local food system policy through Growing Hope, a gubernatorial appointee to the (now defunct) Michigan Food Policy Council, and a founding member of the Washtenaw Food Policy Council, Edmonds loves helping to translate the change we wish to see into a policy priority.  She will share examples from her own experience and how farmers can and need to help shape the policies that affect the food system.
