Plenary: Women on the Verge
The number of women managing farms and ranches, steering board rooms, creating policies, and leading research in food and agriculture is on the rise. Women have always been the foundation of America’s agricultural heritage, but now, the number of women leaders in this industry makes us ask if they are fundamental to the transformation we all seek in food, agriculture, and everything in between. Are they a sign of the tipping point, or are they the tipping point itself? Can we ever have a more sustainable, healthy and just food system without more women succeeding? This plenary discussion featuring Danielle Nierenberg of Food Tank, Kathleen Finlay of Glynwood, Navina Khanna of Heal Food Alliance, and Jill Isenbarger of Stone Barns Center, in conversation with Laurie Freyer of Stone Barns Center, will move beyond statistics to explore the significance of this phenomenon, obstacles from the current political leadership and opportunities for progress.

This workshop will be streamed live on www.facebook.com/stonebarns/
