Phil Haynes

Stone Barns Center
Assistant Livestock Manager
Pocantico Hills, NY
Phil Haynes is assistant livestock manager at Stone Barns Center. He graduated from Connecticut College with a B.A. in anthropology and botany. While in college, Phil helped his brother manage Ralston Farm, a small specialty produce CSA and livestock farm in their New Jersey hometown. He also worked at Stone Barns Center as a livestock intern in order to pursue his interest in pasture-based, ethical farming—especially his love for pigs. After a few years of working in restaurants and on other farms, Phil returned to Stone Barns in 2016 to join the livestock staff.

At Stone Barns Center, Phil helps manage the livestock operation, train apprentices and oversee the farm’s waste-fed pig program. He also supervises on-farm slaughtering and butchering at the Center's New York State-licensed processing facility.
