Thomas Woltz is the principal and owner of Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects. He was named the Design Innovator of the Year by the Wall Street Journal Magazine in 2013 and invested into the American Society of Landscape Architects Council of Fellows in 2011, among the highest honors achieved in the profession.

He leads the firm in applying design excellence to the creation and re invigoration of public space, from parks and urban plazas to campuses, botanic gardens and arboreta. Currently the firm is working on Hudson Yards in NYC and Memorial Park in Houston among many others.

In 1998, building on the firm’s research-based design process, Thomas initiated the Conservation Agriculture (ConAg) Studio. The thriving studio brings together master farmers, ecologists, and designers, that in partnership with landowners and institutions, create new models of resilience and biodiversity within working farmland. The ConAg Studio has designed tens of thousands of acres throughout North America, New Zealand, and Australia, yielding reconstructed wetlands and meadows, reforested land, and flourishing wildlife habitat - all of which integrate soil and water conservation into ecologically mindful agricultural operations. Current ConAg projects include Agricenter and Lone Oaks Farm Tennessee, Cornwall Park in Auckland, New Zealand, and Dalness Farm in Tasmania.
